Private Debt - Investment opportunity of a lifetime or a perfect storm in the making?
Private debt has seen a 10-year bull market characterized by increasingly high transaction multiples, rising leverage levels, and rapid growth in credit assets under management (AUM) from non-bank lenders. Despite the optimism, it is easy to see how an unexpected economic setback could result in a perfect storm—a potentially severe and far-reaching credit correction across the middle market and possibly beyond, into other asset classes.
Jeffrey Unger, CEO, G2 Capital Advisors
Jeffrey Unger is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of G2 Capital Advisors, and is an accomplished senior executive, investment banker, and restructuring specialist with significant domestic and cross border experience. G2 is a new form of Financial Advisory firm, with a unique model of taking former C-level operating executives and utilizing them as sector focused investment bankers. Jeffrey has successfully led organizations to profitability and exit strategies through both uptrend and downtrend cycles and has led or participated in over two hundred M&A and financing transactions to date across several industries including; Transportation, Industrials, Business Services and Technology. Jeffrey has also led over two dozen restructurings and turnarounds on behalf of leading financial institutions in and out of bankruptcy proceedings as both a CRO and Turnaround professional.
Christopher J. Flynn
Flynn is Chief Executive Officer of THL Credit, Inc. and THL Credit Advisors LLC. Mr. Flynn is also a member of the Board of Directors and serves on the Investment Committee of THL Credit’s Direct Lending Platform
Previously, Mr. Flynn served as Co-CEO, prior thereto, Co-president and, prior thereto, Managing Director, of THL Credit, Inc. and THL Credit’s Direct Lending platform. Since joining THL Credit, Mr. Flynn has been involved in origination and closing investments, portfolio management, capital raising and management of THL Credit’s direct lending private funds and accounts, and the establishment of the Chicago and New York offices of THL Credit’s Direct Lending platform.
Prior to joining THL Credit in 2007, Mr. Flynn was a Vice President at AIG in the Leveraged Capital Group. Mr. Flynn joined AIG in February 2005 after working for Black Diamond Capital Management, a hedge fund, as a Senior Financial Analyst. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Flynn worked in a variety of roles at GE Capital, lastly as an Assistant Vice President within the Capital Markets Syndication Group. Prior to joining GE Capital, Mr. Flynn worked at BNP Paribas as a Financial Analyst and at Bank One as a Commercial Banker.
Mr. Flynn earned his M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance and Strategy from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Business and his B.A. in Finance from DePaul University.
Jackson is a Managing Director of Bayside Capital. Currently, he is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including sourcing, transaction structuring, financing and post-closing growth strategies. Jackson brings over fourteen years of experience in private equity investing into this capacity.
Before joining Bayside, Jackson spent ten years with DDJ Capital Management, LLC, a leading middle market high yield debt and private equity firm. While at DDJ, he co-managed the private equity strategy and led investments across a number of sectors. Jackson also sat on the Board of Directors of several DDJ portfolio companies. Prior to DDJ, Jackson worked with Morgan Stanley as a research analyst on the special situations trading desk.
Jackson obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Vermont.
Tod Trabocco, CFA
Tod is a Managing Director at Cambridge Associates based in Boston. He oversees the firm’s private credit efforts, performing due diligence on investment opportunities in structured equity, credit, and distressed markets, as well as monitoring investment firms and their portfolio companies. Tod co-chairs Cambridge Associates’ Credit Investment Research Committee and co-leads the firm’s Credit Investment Group’s manager research and selection and provides specialized credit services to clients. He also sits on the Consultant Advisory Board of the Alternative Investment Forum, an independent economic think tank focusing on institutional investment policy.
Before joining Cambridge Associates, Tod was a Managing Director with Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors’ middle market mezzanine strategy in New York. Previously, he was a Managing Director at LBC Credit Partners, Inc., where he started and led LBC’s research and underwriting practices, and was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He also was Vice President and Senior Analyst at Moody’s Investors Service where he developed a new quantitative scoring method for state-level issuers.

Richard T. Miller
Mr. Miller joined TCW in 2013 with the acquisition of the Special Situations Funds Group from Regiment Capital Advisors, LP. He is in charge of the firm’s Direct Lending ef-fort. Under Mr. Miller’s leadership, the group has raised over $7 billion of capital since its inception. Mr. Miller has over 27 years of experience in the capital markets and previ-ously was ranked on the Institutional Investor “All American High Yield Research Team” for six consecutive years, focusing primarily on the metals and mining sectors. Prior to his involvement in high yield research, he was at Chase Manhattan Bank in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group. He then moved on to become a Managing Director with the High Yield Group. Subsequently, he became the head of High Yield Research at BankBoston Securities and in 1999, Mr. Miller joined UBS as a Managing Director and head of the Global High Yield Research Group. Mr. Miller received his BS from Syracuse University and his MBA from the University of Rochester.
