Meet Up: Angel Investing-Life at the Start of the Entrepreneurial Food-Chain

The show "Shark Tank" may make for high drama and great reality TV, but in real life, over 200,000 so-called "angel investors" invest some $25 billion a year in early stage/start-up companies. These high net worth individuals, often entrepreneurs themselves, typically fund more than 70,000 startup deals a year. They provide 90% of outside equity for startups and play a critical part in the success of high-growth companies. The majority of angel investments do not typically earn a positive return but angel-backed businesses that did include Google, Amazon, Starbucks, Facebook, Costco, and PayPal. Is this an asset class for you or your clients?

Join early-stage investors and angel group members, Sheila Narayan and Anne Estabrook, for an introduction to angel investing and discussion of issues such as:
  • What it takes to be an angel investor?
  • What are the risk/rewards of angel investing?
  • What is the investment process and what do angels look for in a deal?
  • How are deals valued and exited?
  • How do angel investing groups work?
