History and Mission
Who We Are
CFA Society Boston is a non-profit professional society founded in 1946 that
has been a point of connection for the Boston investment
community, providing an open forum for the exchange of fresh perspectives on industry issues and promoting ethics and integrity. Originally called the Boston Security Analysts Society, Inc., BSAS became CFA Society Boston, Inc. in 2017.
More than 5,700 investment professionals locally and globally are members of CFA Boston, representing over 650 investment firms. 94 percent of CFA Boston members hold the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from CFA Institute. To achieve this designation, members are required to pass a series of three intensive exams resulting in financial professionals who are ethically accountable, have superior analyst skills, and real-world portfolio management experience.
CFA Boston is a founding society of CFA Institute
, the global not-for-profit organization of nearly 140,000 investment professionals. CFA Institute awards the CFA Charter, the CIPM designation and administers the Investment Certificate Foundations™
